More Power to Small Businesses

Did you know that more than half of Americans own or work for a small business? Entrepreneurs were honored and celebrated their efforts this past week during National Small Business Week. According to the US Small Business Administration, 28 million small businesses create two out of every three private sector jobs.   You’ve heard it said that small businesses are the backbone of our nation. Oklahoma City ranks 5th among top cities for small businesses according to the latest study by WalletHub. And as one who works for a small company, I began to wonder how many of these small businesses are on the digital map? How many small businesses out there are fully utilizing the power of social media? With the internet at your fingertip, how can any company not afford to get the word out?

I came across a tweet I liked that said, “‘Small business' advantage= you have real relationships=easier marketing"

You have the power of people through social media to garner the trust of those who need you from those who are already using your business. Essentially, word of mouth marketing is digital marketing (social media). Will you commit 30 minutes a day to focus on reaching your current and potential audience? You know your business better than anyone. What do you want to communicate? What can you teach others in this age and culture of DIY?

Twitter wrote a blog during Small Business Week and quoted Maria Contreras-Sweet, current Administrator of the Small Business Administration. "Twitter technology helps small businesses in every corner of every state find customers, drive sales, create jobs and continue America’s economic comeback story."

We see it work every day. Are you using digital marketing to grow your business?
