Blogo Rocks
I got a call from a client yesterday that requested some help with Blogo on their Drupal site. I had never heard of Blogo, so, I went out and found the product here.
I looked around a bit but couldn't find any documentation. They do have a 21 day trial, so, as you can imagine, I downloaded it to see what it was all about.
I am composing this blog using the software and I've gotta say, this could get me to post blogs more often. Very easy, and no longer worried about writing, layout, and loss from an unfinished post when I suddenly get interrupted, then come back and pack up the laptop. Oops! Lost all that I was writing! So, I do like the concept so far. I will have to use it a bit longer to decide if I want to drop the $25.00 to buy it.
Well, on to the documentation for how to set this all up.
The first site I tried this on was running a Drupal 5.x release. There is a 'blogapi' core module that is by default turned off. So, I just logged into admin and turned that on.
It wasn't magic, in that it did not allow me to login right away. I kept getting an authentication error 500 and instructions to see the administrator (me). So, I checked the mirror, but still didn't see any answers :)
Reading here and here on the Drupal website provided some insight. Within Blogo I had to set the URL to http://myname@domain.com/users/myname/blogs. Also, I set the 'system' type to 'movable type'. That was not the default. With those changes, I was able login and post.
